Before we pick up a tool
Consultation
How the bathroom is used now, what isn’t working and what you want it to do.
Assessment
An on-site look at dimensions, existing plumbing positions, wall and floor condition, and any sign of water damage.
Design
Layout, tiles, vanity, tapware and storage are settled before anything is ordered. More on Bathroom Design.
Quote
Priced from the agreed design and scope, so the inclusions are clear before work is scheduled.
STAGE 05–09
The trades in between
Materials are ordered and on hand before demolition starts. The room is stripped back to the frame and floor, then plumbers and electricians rough in pipes, drains and wiring to the new layout while the walls are open.
Waterproofing goes on next and is left to cure. Tiling comes last in this run, because everything underneath it has to be right first. Read how the membrane works on the Waterproofing page.
Plumbing & electrical

Waterproofing

Tiling

STAGE 10–12
After the last trade leaves
Fixtures
Vanity, tapware, toilet, shower screen and mirrors go in once tiling is complete.
Finishing
Silicone joints, accessories, touch-ups and a proper clean of the room.

Which suburbs do you renovate bathrooms in?

What does a bathroom renovation cost?

How long does a bathroom renovation take?
That depends on the scope, material lead times and stages that can’t be rushed, such as waterproofing cure time. How Long Does a Bathroom Renovation Take? goes through it stage by stage.
Why does waterproofing come before tiling?
The membrane is what keeps water in the wet area. Tiles and grout are not waterproof on their own, and once they are down the membrane can’t be seen or fixed without lifting them.
Can a leaking shower be fixed without a full renovation?
Sometimes. The right repair depends on where the water is escaping, which has to be found first. See Leaking Shower Repairs.
What should I include in a quote request?
